W5500 Ethernet Network Module
The Ethernet module based on the modern W5500 chip is an integrated network controller equipped with a hardware TCP/IP stack. It enables easy and stable internet connectivity for embedded systems via the SPI interface. The integrated chip handles MAC and PHY Ethernet 10/100 layers, which greatly simplifies building network devices. The module is an excellent choice for microcontroller-based projects, including Arduino, ESP8266, ESP32, STM32, and Raspberry Pi.
The hardware TCP/IP stack supports the most popular protocols, such as TCP, UDP, IPv4, ICMP, ARP, IGMP, and PPPoE. The chip has 32 kB of internal buffer memory for data communication. Users can implement network applications using simple sockets, with support for up to 8 independent hardware connections simultaneously.
Communication with the external microcontroller takes place via a high-speed SPI interface with a clock frequency of up to 80 MHz. To optimize power consumption, the module includes Wake on LAN and a low-power sleep mode.
