This motor driver module supports motor supply voltage in the range 4.5 - 36 V and circuit supply 6 - 9 V. It features two L293D drivers, a 74HC595 shift register, and a RESET button. It offers a maximum current of 600 mA per channel, with peak capability up to 1.2 A. It can drive up to 4 DC motors, 2 stepper motors, and 2 servos. Before first use
The manufacturer recommends connecting an external power supply to avoid loading the USB port. You can also power the Motor Shield and Arduino separately. To do this, remove the PWR_IMP jumper. This is recommended when supplying voltages higher than 12 V.
