The adjustable distance sensor E18-D80NK NPN is an infrared optical sensor that detects objects within an adjustable range of 5 cm to 80 cm. A potentiometer for precise adjustment is located on the back of the sensor. The device is powered by 5V DC and draws less than 100 mA. The sensor indicates object detection with an LED, and its response time is below 2 ms. It has built-in reverse polarity protection and operates over a wide temperature range of -25°C to +55°C. The output signal is digital: a low state means an object is detected, and a high state means no object. The sensor has a diameter of 18 mm, a length of 50 mm, and a cable about 50 cm long.
