Thermocouples generate very low analog voltages on the order of microvolts, so an analog-to-digital converter is required for precise reading by a microcontroller. Important Limitations

• The MAX6675 chip measures positive temperatures only (from 0°C). Measurement below zero is not possible.
• The actual upper limit of the kit is determined by the probe (800°C), not the converter chip (1024°C).
