Description
PL2303 GS USB UART TTL Converter
USB to UART (TTL) converter module based on the modern PL2303 GS chip. It provides stable serial communication and is fully compatible with the latest operating systems, including Windows 10 and 11. Thanks to Plug&Play functionality, drivers install automatically when the device is connected to a USB port. The module is an excellent choice for programming and communicating with popular platforms such as Arduino, ESP8266, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi.
Key Technical Features
- Chip used: PL2303 GS
- Operating voltage selection: jumper for setting 5 V or 3.3 V
- Pinouts: goldpin header with TX, RX, GND, VCCIO signals
- VCCIO pin current capacity: up to 500 mA for 5V and up to 100mA for 3.3V
- Connector: standard USB Type A plug
- System compatibility: Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, 11, Mac, Linux
- Expansion capability: RS232 standard support using an external MAX232/MAX3232 chip
COM Port Emulation and Compatibility
When connected, the device emulates a traditional COM port, enabling seamless cooperation with both older and newer tool applications. The converter provides a convenient solution for connecting an asynchronous full-duplex serial device. The built-in voltage selection jumper makes the module universal and safe for circuits with different power supply standards. There is also the option to extend functionality to the RS232 standard using an external MAX232 chip.
Benefits
- Seamless operation on modern systems without manually searching for drivers (Plug&Play)
- High versatility thanks to selectable logic voltage of 3.3 V or 5 V
- Easy expansion to RS232 communication using a MAX232 chip
- Safe operation with circuits using different power supply standards
- Quick and easy connection using standard goldpin connector cables
- Full compatibility with popular development environments and diagnostic tools
Important Connection Information
For correct communication with the target device, simply connect the GND, TXD, and RXD pins. Remember that the RX signal connects to TX, and TX to RX on the target device. Pay special attention to proper signal connections with the main board - reversed or incorrect wiring may damage the electronics. The module is intended for any electronic circuits equipped with a TTL / UART (TX / RX) input.
Example Applications
- Programming and debugging microcontrollers (Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266)
- Serial communication with mini computers (Raspberry Pi)
- Repair and diagnosis of electronic devices equipped with UART / TTL and RS232 interfaces (when using a MAX232 / MAX3232 chip)
- Uploading new firmware to routers, hard drives, and set-top boxes
- Reading data from sensors and modules with TTL serial output
